SSI, basics

The WinCC OA driver SSI is used for interfacing SAT remote systems. Data is exchanged between WinCC OA and the SAT system via LAN (Ethernet, IEEE 802.3); the message formats used are the SAT-defined SSI formats.

SK 1703 remote devices are supported with a suitable communications card (KE/ET). This must be configured by the SAT engineer and made ready for communication.

On the host side, all procedures supported by WinCC OA drivers for converting raw values into engineering values and vice versa are provided, such as filtering, message conversion and command conversion (by means of configurable configs).

The data points represented in WinCC OA are assigned to their hardware addresses via peripheral address configs. Since related items of data are also sent by means of common SSI messages, each peripheral address specifies a (potential) message. If a message contains several items of data, then these can be distinguished by a subindex (this can also be configured in the peripheral address config).

For almost all message types, however, it is also possible to combine all the data in one common data point (discussed specifically for the individual message types).

The data points can be configured either in panels in the User Interface, or by importing ASCII configuration files from an ASCII manager (please refer to the specifications the two managers).

For information on the supported platforms for the SSI driver see Supported Platforms of the most important Drivers.
