Device Overview

Click the "Device overview" button in the driver configuration panel to show all available outstations (devices) in a tabular presentation.

The table consists of the following columns:

Unit name

Unique name of the outstation (device). Double-click this cell to display the popup window for this device. This shows all general Channel Manger and driver settings for this device and allows the download and verification of configuration files. For detailed information see General Channel Manager and Driver Settings.

Type

COM or MODEM. All available types are read from the config file [channelmanager] section (see dll config entry). COM is used for a direct RS232 connection.

State

The connection state of a device - online or offline. An outstation can manually be put into "out of service" so that it is no longer scheduled to be contacted - see General Channel Manager and Driver Settings.

Comm state

Status of communication. The following states are possible:

Connected port

Displays the name of the channel that is used when a connection is established.

Debug

Double-click this cell to display the debug window for this device. For detailed information see Debugging.

"Communication settings" button

Click this button to create new communication data points or configure existing ones. These are used to send AT commands to a modem in case of connect or disconnect. For details see Communication Settings.

"Channels" button

Click this button to open the Channel Overview.

Context menu of the "Device overview" panel

Right-click on the row of a specific device in the device overview table to open the context menu for this device. The context menu offers the following options:

  • "Reset status of device" - this is useful when the device had a serious error. This option will reset the error status and will make the device available again.

  • "Reset statistics of device" - resets the number of counted Tx, Rx and connects.

  • "Establish connection for device" - tries to establish a connection for the specific device.

  • "Establish 'permanent' connection for device" - tries to establish a permanent connection for the specific device.

  • "Close 'permanent' connection" - closes the permanent connection for the specific device (the connection stops within 10-15 seconds).
