Device and Channel Overview

Click the "Channel overview" button in the driver configuration panel to show all available channels in a tabular presentation.

The table consists of the following columns:

Channel name

Unique name of the channel. Double-click this cell to open the settings and information window for the channel. For detailed information see Channel Information and Settings.

Busy

Indicates the current status of the line. The line is busy from the moment the connection is being established (dialing) until it is broken via an ATH command.

Type

COM or MODEM. All available types are read from the config file [channelmanager] section (see dll config entry). COM is used for a direct RS232 connection.

State

The connection state of a channel - online or offline. A channel can manually be put into "out of service" so that it is no longer available - see Channel Information and Settings.

Comms status

Shows the current status of the channel. For the possible status texts see Comm state.

Connected Device

Shows the name of the outstation (device) that is connected to the particular port .

Debug

Click this cell to open a debug window that shows the low-level bytes transmitted and received on this channel. For details see Debugging.

"Communication settings" button

Click this button to create new communication data points or configure existing ones. These are used to send AT commands to a modem in case of connect or disconnect. For details see Communication Settings.

"Add channel" button

Click on the "Add channel" button to add a new channel. This opens a pop-up dialog for defining the name of the new channel. After confirmation by clicking on "OK" the new channel is added to the channel overview table.

"Delete channel" button

Select the channel from the channel overview table to be deleted and click on the "Delete channel" button to delete this channel.

Context menu of the "Device overview" panel

Right-click on the row of a specific device in the device overview table to open the context menu for this device. The context menu offers the following options:

  • "Reset status of device" - resets the channel status for the connected device. This is useful when the device had a serious error. This option will reset the error status and will make the device available again.

  • "Reset statistics of device" - resets the number of counted Tx, Rx and connects for this channel.
