BACnet Interoperability Building Blocks

A BIBB (BACnet Interoperability Building Block) defines, which services and procedures have to be supported on the client side and the server side in order to realize a specific demand of the system.

The WinCC OA BACnet driver can be considered as client, as it works as B-OWS.

In the following table are listed the BIBBs, which are supported by the BACnet driver.

The version indicates since when a specific BIBB is supported by the WinCC OA driver:

  • Version 1.0 means that it is implemented since WinCC OA version 3.8 SP1.

  • Version 1.1 means that it is implemented since WinCC OA version 3.9.

Description

Alarm and Event Services

AE-N-A

1.0

Receiver of confirmed or unconfirmed event notifications.

AE-ACK-A

1.0

Acknowledges an alarm.

Basically, a BACnet alert cannot be acknowledged in WinCC OA directly - the acknowledge has to be done in the BACnet device first. Once the device reports the acknowledgement, the alert can be acknowledged in WinCC OA. This mechanism requires an acknowledgement via the WinCC OA BACnet driver. The alert acknowledgement via the BACnet driver is made for dedicated alert classes. The name of the alert classes must start with a specific prefix. This prefix can be defined in the config file entry driverAckClassPrefix.

AE-ASUM-A

1.0

Alarm summary.

AE-INFO-A

1.1

Information.

Data Sharing

DS-RP-A

1.0

Initiator for reading a BACnet property. Is used in single polls.

DS-RPM-A

1.0

Initiator for reading multiple BACnet object properties. Is used in general queries.

DS-WP-A

1.0

Initiator for writing a BACnet property.

DS-COV-A

1.0

Subscribes an other object so that it gets the new value when the value changed in the other object (COV). The driver receives the corresponding notification message and subscribes always in the unconfirmed mode.

Is used for the spontaneous receive mode.

Scheduling

SCHED-A

1.0

The driver is able to modify schedules and calendars of a BACnet device.

Trending

T-VMT-A

1.1

Trend viewing and modifying trends.

T-ATR-A

1.1

Logging of trend values.

Device and Network Management

DM-DDB-A

1.0

The driver searches for other devices on the bus and interprets device announcements ("Who-Is", "I-AM").

DM-DOB-A

1.0

The driver queries address information about the BACnet properties and objects ("Who-Has", "I-Have").

DM-DCC-A

1.0

Is used to deactivate/re-activate a device on the bus and for diagnostic purposes (is controlled via an internal device data point).

DM-TS-A

1.0

Is used for the time synchronization of a BACnet device (is triggered via an internal device data point).

DM-RD-A

1.0

Is used for initiating a re-initialization process of the BACnet device (cold restart, warm restart). Is controlled via an internal device data point.

DM-OCD-A

1.1

Is used for creation and deletion of BACnet objects in / from the device.
