The connection to peripheral devices (the device as well as the connections can be configured redundant), which use different protocols for the communication, can be established with one WinCC OA driver. The addressing can be performed without giving up the used addressing (the addressing is protocol-specific).

The interface to the peripheral devices is implemented using Applicom products. There is a hardware solution (peripheral card) and a software solution (software stack) that are used for this purpose.
