Requirements and installation

• Correctly installed WinCC OA version 3.5 or higher.

• The periphery consists of Siemens S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200 (note the information further below) or S5 series PLCs.

• For receiving spontaneous data from the PLC with the S7 driver you need the TSPP extension on the PLC or you can use cyclic services.

• A license for the S7 driver

• Up to 512 PLCs are supported. (Maximum 256 PLCs per driver).

• The use of TSPP is only possible for S7 and over Industrial Ethernet. That means that it is not supported for S5 or MPI connections.

Caution

The S7 driver uses the TCP port 102 for communication with the PLC. The port can not be changed!

Note

The engineering/configuration of the driver must take place on the local machine (a configuration from the distributed system is not supported).

Installation

A normal installation of WinCC OA version 3.5 or higher is sufficient for using the S7 driver. See chapter Installation for more information on installing WinCC OA.

Communication with Siemens S7-1200

The WinCC OA S7 driver can communicate with the S7-1200 PLC only if the option "Symbolic access only" is not set during the engineering.

By disabling this option in the general settings, this option will be disabled by default when creating a new data block.
