The WinCC OA Information Server (IS) allows the export of user-definable data from WinCC OA into an external database (DB). A range of analysis tools can be used to access this database: |
Intranet applications, |
modern reporting tools, |
OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) software |
and all other ADO/ODBC-compatible software. |
The possibilities range from reports in Microsoft Excel right up to web trends and web reports. The appropriate information can be supplied for each department in the company, whether as batch reports, measurement curves or the latest production statistics. |
A relational database forms the heart of the system, supplying the information to all recipients. Batch data, measurements and count values are stored here, as is the current room temperature. It is not necessary to have a separate SCADA system for visualizing this data; all you need are office tools such as Excel, Access or a web browser. The amount and content of the information is tailored to the recipient's needs. |
Advantages: |
With the Information Server, WinCC OA guarantees separation of the control center from the information platform of the business. All external accesses are made to the relational database system, which normally runs on a standalone computer. |
WinCC OA generates and controls the information flow to this database. Since one can configure the data flow, and thus know and plan its behavior, the required reliability can be achieved here. |
Any overloading or failure of the external database system does not impair the master computer on which WinCC OA is running. In the same way, any new installation of systems such as web servers, or reporting or OLAP software, will have no adverse effects. |
The same data can be accessed simultaneously by company management, the accountancy department, project management or technical staff. |
