Following options for archiving alerts in WinCC OA are available:
For WinCC OA
version 3.10 and below, the two different archiving options could
have been only used separately (i.e. either RAIMA or RDB). With
WinCC OA version
3.11 it is possible to use both RAIMA and RDB parallel in the
same project.

To meet the increasing
requirement for different process data archiving for each system
layer, the functionality of synchronously archiving to RAIMA and
RDB has been added to WinCC OA
version 3.11. It is now possible to write both in the RAIMA (see
also: RAIMA)
and in the relational database (see also: RDB
archiving, basics) in the same project. Impulse for this feature
was the increasing usage of Oracle databases in the control layer
and the use of alert databases (RAIMA) in the field layer to prevent
multiple relational databases in the system.
With RAIMA
- RDB Parallel both archiving systems can be used parallel
in the same project for e.g. using a local archiving via RAIMA
for distant systems (hereafter called head systems), which can
be used for queries when directly using the head system, and a
RDB which is used for acquiring historical alert data from the
central control system.
The configuration
can be extended to the effect that in case of losing the connection
between head system and RDB, the value changes are still archived
in the alert database of the head system and will not be lost.
The local historical alert data could also be accessed when directly
working on the head system without active connection to the central
RDB, e.g. when maintenance work is performed.
The illustration below
shows a exemplary setup of a distributed system, which is using
RAIMA - RDB Parallel.

Each head system can be configured to archive the
data to the central RDB (in the control system scope) as well
as archiving to the local alert database (RAIMA) at the same time
(see Configuration of RAIMA
- RDB Parallel). The access to the archived data using the
UI can now either be direct to the RDB or using a query for the
corresponding RAIMA of the head system (cf. queryRDBdirect).
Requirements
WinCC OA
Prerequisite for the use of RAIMA - RDB is an executable
WinCC OA 3.11
project.
RDB
Only Oracle Client (Standard or Enterprise Edition)
version 11.2.0.2 or above are supported. A compatibility to other
systems or versions is not available.
